Run

I wanted to write this piece something close to Harlem times.

Chapter

1

Where’s you runnin
Ain’t a place like home
Where’s that gorgeous smile
Where’s you runnin child
The nights on a run
Down on the Harlem blues
To where’s you runnin son
Just empty streetlights and a morning due
Hear the sax play down Corner Street
A tiny kiss of summers come
Color girls laughing at their nice treat
The whisper of a humming birds hum…
Grasping the blue sky
Time’s arms of segregation
Running to the blue sky
Mouthful slurs of degradation
Run hard you child.
